3.2.7 is out, and it’s the new default for all RedisGreen servers. You can read more about it here.

If you’re running Redis 3.2 on your local laptop you’ll probably want to upgrade to 3.2.7 there as well – the security patch guards against a potential attack from malicious web sites to your (localhost) Redis server.

A few customers have inquired about which version of Redis we recommend. We’ve been recommending the 3.2 branch for several months, and version 3.2.4 is the default for all new databases built by RedisGreen.

We intend to support older versions of Redis indefinitely, so if you’re happy with 2.8 we will be happy to support it, applying security fixes and updates as needed but avoiding major version changes.

RedisGreen now supports the latest stable version of Redis (3.2.1) and it’s the new default for all new servers! If you’d like to upgrade to 3.2.1, just click on the “Support” button in the RedisGreen dashboard and let us know.

Redis 3.2 is out! Both RedisGreen and RedisMonitor have had unofficial 3.2 support for several months, but now we’re making it official. New RedisGreen servers can be built with 3.2, and new RedisMonitors automatically support 3.2 with no additional configuration.

There’s a lot to love in Redis 3.2 – GEO commands, a new BITFIELD command, performance improvements, better memory efficiency, and much more.

If you have an existing RedisGreen server and would like to upgrade to 3.2, just let us know by clicking the “Support” button in the RedisGreen dashboard.

We just rolled out a new “Getting Started” page that you’ll see after creating a new server. This page has over a dozen code snippets that you can copy and paste to get up and running with popular languages and libraries quickly. You can also import data to your server from anywhere – all you need is a running Redis server or a backup file and we’ll handle the rest.

We’ve also replaced the old “URL” button with a new “Connect” button which will help you connect to your server later on, too.

Long in beta, RedisGreen is now introducing our 120GB instances to general availability.

With blazing fast performance and an extremely high capacity, these databases can handle the most demanding cache and in-memory database workloads.

RedisGreen servers can now be automatically and transparently upgraded when the memory usage exceeds 90% of the maximum. RedisGreen upgrades require no downtime or configuration changes, so automatic, so this is a great way to ensure that your write commands never return errors due to unexpected out-of-memory errors.

To enable automatic upgrades, click on your server’s “Admin” button and then click on “Upgrade / Downgrade” to edit the setting:

You can also enable the feature when creating a new server.

As always, if you have questions or need help reducing your memory usage, you can email us at support@memetria.com, or just hit the “Support” button in the RedisGreen dashboard.

We’ve made it even easier to move to RedisGreen by making data importing a one-step process. When building a new RedisGreen server, you’ll see a new “Import Data” option:

Import data field

Just enter the connection details for your existing server. This can be a Redis URL, redis-cli arguments, the URL for a Redis backup file, or pretty much any other format. RedisGreen will handle the rest.

Once all your data has been imported or if there are any problems, you’ll receive an email from us with further instructions. Easy!

We lopped a few minutes off of the RedisGreen upgrade process by making some back-end improvements to the server replacement process. As always, all RedisGreen upgrades are seamless and require no downtime.
